Golden Horseshoe still working!

Day 1 of travel, September 29, 2011

So, it's my first day of travel, and even though it's been a long one (and it's not even over yet), it's been really good and I hope it's a sign of what's to come.  Everyone please join me in knocking on some wood here, but I've been really lucky so far! My family always jokes that I have a golden horseshoe permanently attached to me and I have to say, I'm starting to believe them and am glad it was working today!

The day started off well with LOTS of well-wishes and visits from my wonderful friends so the tone was set for a good day to begin with.  On the way to the airport, we got a bit lost and I had to pee (surprise, surprise) so I was a tad nervous but we made it and here's what followed...

I'm traveling with only one bag and a purse to carry-on.  However, I'm bringing over some presents for friends overseas and they were liquid and too heavy so I needed to check them.  The airline charges $25 to check a bag but I was happy to pay it to help a friend out.  The guys at the curbside check-in said that I might be able to check it all the way to Sydney inside so best to try inside.  I was in a hurry (still had to pee) so I wasn't too enthused on the idea of delaying my pit stop any longer, but alas, it worked in my favor--the lady at the counter came to help me print my pass and when I heard her accent, I began to speak to her in Spanish.  She was so impressed with my Spanish that she didn't charge me for the bag, AND she upgraded my seat to business class with the entire row all to myself!

Then, when I went through security, my bags got stopped and searched because I was bringing sunblock for the same friend. The guy told me he wasn't supposed to but he'd let me take it this one time. (So cross your fingers, Haddads...so far so good!)  My bag was the first one off the conveyor belt and the shuttle bus arrived after 5 minutes (just enough time to snack). How lucky am I?!

I'm currently sitting in Starbucks at Union Station in Los Angeles waiting for my train to take me to San Diego.  By the time I get there it will have been over 17 hours of travel...guess I better get used to this!

THANK YOU, everyone for your continued love and support.  I couldn't do this without you! Please send me shout outs so I know at least SOMEONE is reading this : )

Love,
Dani : )

Too much of a good thing

They say too much of anything, even something good, can be bad.  I'm experiencing a small dose of this today--I woke up sick and I think I literally made myself sick with worry.  Even though I know this is an AMAZING adventure I am about to embark on and I know how blessed I am to be doing it...I'm still overwhelmed with how much there is to get ready! There's too much to do!!!
